Job summary

Maroondah City Council invites graduates to start a planning career in our Statutory Planning Team in Ringwood, where you’ll learn from experienced professionals and gain hands-on experience shaping our communities.

Based in Realm offices above Eastland, you’ll contribute to planning applications, reports, and customer guidance while developing your skills in a supportive, mentoring environment that values collaboration and service excellence.

Qualifications

• A completed (or substantially completed) degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Town Planning, or a closely related field.
• Knowledge of statutory planning procedures and the Planning and Environment Act.
• Familiarity with local government processes is a plus, but not essential.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Qualifications:

• A completed (or substantially completed) degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Town Planning, or a closely related field.

Knowledge:

• An understanding of statutory planning procedures, ideally with some knowledge of the Planning and Environment Act and planning schemes.
• Familiarity with local government processes is a plus, but not essential.

Skills:

• Strong communication skills—both written and verbal to engage with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders.
• Analytical and investigative abilities to assess planning applications and prepare reports.
• A customer-focused approach, with the ability to provide accurate advice and guidance in a friendly and professional manner.
• Good organisational and time management skills, with an ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• A willingness to learn, grow, and contribute positively to a team environment.
