Job summary

General Pants Co is seeking a State Manager (South) to lead store performance and customer experience across NSW, VIC, TAS and SA. You will own the customer experience, set operational standards, build a high-performing team of Store Managers, and translate strategy into actionable shop-floor execution.

Reporting to the Head of Retail, you will drive sales, margins and KPIs, travel regularly across the region, and foster cross-team collaboration to grow the General Pants brand in your territory.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a State, Regional or Area Manager leading a multi-site retail portfolio
• Fashion, apparel or lifestyle retail, ideally high volume
• Track record of delivering sales, KPI and cost outcomes across multiple stores
• Experience turning underperforming stores around through change and accountability
• Strong commercial acumen and a hands-on feel for what makes a store perform
• WHS knowledge, employment obligations and retail compliance
• Willingness to travel regularly across NSW, VIC, TAS and SA

About the Role

We're looking for a State Manager (South) to lead store performance and customer experience across a portfolio of key General Pants stores spanning New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia!

This role owns how our customer experiences the brand in every store across your region, and the commercial result that experience delivers. You'll set the standard for operational excellence, build a team of high-performing Store Managers, and turn business strategy into clear, executable action on the shop floor.

Reporting to the Head of Retail, you'll lead by example: Owning results, challenging the status quo, and partnering across the business to embed, improve and grow General Pants in your region.

What You Will Be Doing

• Own the in-store customer experience across your region, from service standards and the service model through to visual merchandising and brand storytelling


• Get on the floor. Spend real time in your stores with your Store Managers and teams so you always have a true read on the customer, the obstacles and the opportunity


• Deliver sales, gross margin and profit budgets for each store and the region, and drive every KPI that moves them: conversion, ATV, UPT, IPC and sales per hour


• Turn around underperforming stores with clear plans, named owners and firm timeframes, then share what's working across the region and the wider network


• Protect margin through wage-to-sales, store cost control, stock loss and stock take compliance


• Grow omni performance from store across ship from store, click and collect and returns, and drive CRM acquisition and retention in your stores


• Sharpen store operations, from replenishment and delivery processing to back of house standards, so teams get time back for the customer


• Keep every store compliant alongside People & Culture and Operations, covering WHS, employment obligations, award compliance and General Pants Co. standards


• Recruit, coach and develop your Store Managers, and build a genuine progression pipeline through talent mapping and succession planning


• Support new store openings, refurbishments and relocations in your region, bringing a test and learn mindset to new ideas
