Job summary

Metro South Health's Princess Alexandra Hospital Vascular Unit is seeking a specialist in vascular and endovascular surgery to provide care for complex cases, including in the operating theatre, outpatients, wards, and on-call duties.

You will join a collaborative team, contribute to teaching and multidisciplinary clinics, and engage in research and quality improvement activities while benefiting from flexible work arrangements and pathways for career development.

Qualifications

• Specialist vascular and endovascular surgery to full complexity.
• Involvement in supervising registrars and teaching medical students.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist vascular and endovascular care in operating theatre, outpatients, and wards, including on-call duties.
• Undertake elective and emergency vascular procedures and inpatient consultations.
• Participate in multidisciplinary clinics, audits, morbidity and mortality meetings, and teaching for the team.

Your New Role

This role provides specialist Vascular and Endovascular Surgery to patients and assumes overall responsibility for patient care. It includes the full range of clinical duties – operating theatre, outpatients, ward rounds and on call.

Services Provided Include

• Provides specialist services at Princess Alexandra Hospital and includes outreach to other Metro South Hospital and Hospital Health Services.
• Provides inpatient care, including participating in the on-call roster
• Undertakes elective and emergency surgery
• Provides inpatient consultations.
• Provides outpatient consultations.
• Participates in multidisciplinary clinics and meetings, included audit and morbidity and mortality meetings.
• Supervision and teaching of registrars, junior doctors and medical students, and teaching for other members of the multidisciplinary team
• Participation and or leadership of research and quality improvement activities
• Involvement in Vascular Surgery administrative tasks including triaging.
• Support +/- reporting for the Vascular Ultrasound Laboratory
• Provide on-call and emergency surgery to paediatric patients at the Queensland Children's Hospital

About you

Princess Alexandra Hospital Vascular Unit provides Vascular and Endovascular Surgery to the full complexity of Vascular Surgery including complex aortic endovascular surgery. The Unit supports the Vascular Ultrasound Laboratory and provides specialist clinics in General Vascular, High risk foot clinics, Venous Insufficiency clinics and provides clinical guidance for nurse led clinics.

The Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) is a tertiary health care centre providing care in most major adult specialties. We provide world class health care to Brisbane City's southern suburbs across emergency, medical, mental health and surgical services, including liver and kidney transplant.
