Job summary

Bendigo Bank seeks an Engineering Manager to lead the Retail Lending Technology team. You will shape technical direction, tackle complex problems, and drive long-term reliability and security across squads.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Retail Lending Technology, you will guide critical initiatives from end-to-end and influence technical standards, mentorship practices, and engineering excellence within our Lending Platform stack.

Qualifications

• Hands-on software engineering experience.
• Full-stack expertise: Java and React.
• Experience with AWS, microservices (REST/GraphQL) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Champion for clean code, automated testing, observability and security.
• Enterprise experience navigating regulated, large-scale environments.
• Ability to translate business and risk goals into pragmatic engineering strategy.
• Interest in AI-powered development and modern SDLC practices.

Responsibilities

• Support and align Principal Engineers with architectural design and technical strategy.
• Embed engineering best practices in testing, security, and CI/CD to reduce technical debt.
• Mentor and coach engineers, foster knowledge sharing and design reviews.
• Collaborate with product and engineering leaders on cross-domain initiatives and technical assessments.
