Job summary

Canva is seeking a Staff Software Engineer focused on portable libraries for mobile platforms in Melbourne. You will build and maintain foundational libraries in Rust and C++, enabling iOS, Android, and web apps from a single codebase.

You’ll work in a hybrid setup, collaborating with other Staff engineers, shaping the mobile platform's technical direction and ensuring top performance and safety across runtimes. Strong cross‑platform and systems programming skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Mobile depth with iOS/Android experience and library design.
• Production Rust usage and portable library development.
• Ability to design cross‑platform interfaces and ABI boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Own portable libraries across iOS, Android and web.
• Build fast, safe libraries in Rust/C++ for multiple runtimes.
• Collaborate with Staff engineers to shape mobile platform direction.
• Write clear design docs and communicate technical concepts.
