Job summary

SustainRecruit is partnering with a leading Australian financial services organisation to hire a Staff Software Engineer focused on Identity and Access Management (IAM) in Sydney. This hands-on leadership role shapes authentication, API platforms and scalable security architectures for customer platforms.

You will mentor engineers, define technical direction, collaborate with security and product stakeholders, and raise engineering standards across business-critical systems. On-site in Sydney.

Qualifications

• Hands-on software engineering is essential.
• Experience building production applications, APIs or distributed systems.
• Strong Java/Spring Boot backend proficiency.
• Experience with cloud, microservices, CI/CD and modern engineering practices.
• Understanding of authentication/authorization, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect or API security.
• Experience designing highly available, business-critical platforms.
• Ability to influence decisions and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable identity and authentication services.
• Lead technical architecture across APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Build and enhance identity, access management and API integration platforms.
• Drive engineering excellence in code quality, testing, reliability and automation.
• Mentor senior engineers and influence technical direction across teams.
