Job summary

Anthropic in Sydney is seeking a Staff Engineer for the Datacenter Server Lifecycle team to own the end-to-end operational journey of every machine in our datacenters — from provisioning and deployment to steady-state operation, maintenance, and eventual decommissioning — at scale.

In this greenfield role you will define the services, tooling, and standards that govern how we operate critical hardware, partner with Security and Networking teams, and shape AI-native workflows to improve

Qualifications

Hands-on server hardware experience, rack deployment, cabling and diagnosing failures at scale.
End-to-end hardware lifecycle management: provisioning, maintenance scheduling, decommissioning.
Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Rust, Go, or Java).
Working knowledge of modern cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes, AWS/Azure/GCP).
Ability to communicate clearly and build consensus across stakeholders; comfortable with ambiguity.

Responsibilities

Build automation to support datacenter fleets at scale.
Define and own the end-to-end system lifecycle strategy from provisioning to decommissioning.
Partner with Infrastructure Security to design and enforce trusted compute standards.
Collaborate with Networking to ensure end-to-end connectivity across sites.
Build and maintain tooling to track machine health, configuration, and status across the fleet.
