Job summary

Canva is seeking a Staff Software Engineer - API Platform to own and evolve core backend infrastructure across Canva's services. You will drive a major migration, enable multi-language support, and ensure reliability and performance across the platform.

You will mentor engineers and set technical direction that helps many teams work more efficiently, contributing to Canva's design-forward products and fast-moving platform.

Qualifications

• Experience building/operating infrastructure used by multiple engineering teams.
• Ability to own systems where reliability and correctness are critical.
• Experience communicating technical direction across teams.
• Track record with large-scale, production-grade services.

Responsibilities

• Designing and building core infrastructure that connects Canva backend services.
• Leading a major migration of backend service communication.
• Driving support for more languages and frameworks on the platform.
• Owning reliability, performance and correctness of critical systems.
• Mentoring engineers and raising technical bar across the team.
