Job description

The St Leonards Bowling Club is seeking expressions of interest for an experienced Head Coach and Bowls Development Lead for the 2026/2027 season.

The club has two Tiger Turf synthetic greens and we currently field 5 Saturday Pennant sides and 5 sides in the Midweek competition. Our top sides in both competitions will be in Division 1 in the Geelong Bowls Region Pennant competition. We have in excess of 120 affiliated bowlers registered with the Club.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

• Delivering coaching sessions to members of all abilities, including mentoring club coaches (coaching for new bowlers is undertaken by other accredited and/ or experience club members).
• Developing programs to attract new members, including school initiatives, corporate events, and community groups.
• Provide support and actively contribute to team / player selection in consultation with the Selection Committee.
• Assisting with informal and formal Lawn Bowls competitions and conduct Bowls Clinics.
• Collaborating with local communities and acting as a central point of contact for new players.
• Assisting with player recruitment.

The Head Coach / Bowls Development Lead will support and enhance our established Bowls Committee structure and programs to:

• Improve our pennant and match day strategies and performances.
• Improve our coaching, player development and selection expertise.
• Implement coaching programs for members and new bowlers, with a focus on team development, the role in a team and game plans.
• Improve player skills and knowledge of the game, as well as enjoyment of the game.

Key Relationships:

• Bowls Directors and Board
• Team Skippers
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated understanding of the sport of lawn bowls, techniques and strategies.
• Bowls Victoria Accredited Bowls Coach (or be willing to undertake accreditation).
• Current Working with Children Check.

Remuneration and incentive package will be discussed upon your interest, and availability of time for the role.
