Job description

Hobart quietly attracts a particular kind of clinician — the ones who've done a stretch in a big-city caseload and want the work to sit inside a life rather than around it. This is a permanent role with an established Hobart private practice for a Speech Pathologist to join a stable, well-led team.

About the role:

General private-practice caseload with genuine flexibility on where you focus — the practice sees paediatric and adult clients and will shape the mix around your clinical interests. That might mean early language and school-age work, adult neurological communication, voice, feeding, literacy, AAC, or a blend.

  • Permanent full-time or part-time (4-day weeks and school-hours arrangements welcome)
  • Clinic-based sessions with some community, school and telehealth work
  • Realistic caseload set with your clinical lead — not by billable-hour KPI
  • Full admin, scheduling and billing support so your day stays clinical
  • Structured supervision, peer case discussion and a genuine PD culture
What's on offer:
  • Attractive package
  • Annual PD budget and paid PD leave
  • Laptop, phone, and reimbursed travel between sites
  • A clinical career pathway (senior, lead and specialty roles)
  • A team that stays — low turnover, and leadership that has built the practice the way clinicians actually want to work in one
About you:
  • AHPRA registration as a Speech Pathologist (new graduates through senior clinicians all considered)
  • Australian work rights
  • Genuine interest in general private practice — comfortable across assessment and intervention
  • A current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration, or willingness to obtain
  • An interest in Hobart as a place to actually live, not just work
Why Hobart:

Hobart is one of the few Australian capitals where a professional salary genuinely buys a good life. The commute is measured in minutes, not lanes of traffic. Weekends are Salamanca Market on Saturday, MONA when you feel like it, and a short drive to Bruny Island, the Tasman Peninsula, or the walking tracks around kunanyi / Mount Wellington. The food and wine scene punches well above the city's size, house prices remain sensible compared to the mainland capitals, and the pace lets you do the clinical work well without the low-grade exhaustion that comes with a Sydney or Melbourne commute. It's the kind of city clinicians move to for a job and end up staying in for a life.
