Job summary

Queensland Health is seeking a Clinical Assistant Specimen Collection to deliver high-quality pathology services through safe collection of patient specimens and support of laboratory operations. You will perform phlebotomy and specimen collection in accordance with guidelines, while undertaking specimen reception, courier and general duties.

The role requires working both independently and with teams, ability to resolve routine issues, and a seven-day roster with emphasis on confidentiality,

Qualifications

• Knowledge of specimen collection procedures and phlebotomy on a wide range of patients.
• Strong client focus and effective written and oral communication.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
• Commitment to quality management, QA/QC programs and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Collect patient specimens and perform phlebotomy in accordance with Queensland guidelines.
• Assist with specimen reception, courier and general laboratory duties as required.
• Support accreditation processes, documentation and statistical reporting.
• Contribute to a seven-day roster and ongoing education and training.
