VIDA Roads in Melbourne (180 Lonsdale St) seeks a Specialist Pavement Engineer to provide expert pavement engineering advice and technical assurance across planning, design, procurement, construction and handover of transport infrastructure projects. This role supports informed decision making on complex technical matters.

You will lead risk and opportunities assessments, influence design submissions, and help develop and govern pavement standards across VIDA's project portfolio.

Qualifications

• Experienced Civil Engineer with history of pavement design and analysis.
• Advanced understanding of Australian and Victorian pavement design requirements.
• Excellent communication with technical experts and project staff.

Responsibilities

Provide authoritative pavement engineering advice and technical assurance across the planning, development, procurement, design,constructionand handover phases of transport infrastructure projects, supporting informed decision making on complex technical matters.

Lead the assessment of pavement-related technical risks,opportunitiesand project issues, providing practical, evidence-based recommendations that balance performance, safety, constructability, whole-of-lifevalueand delivery requirements.

Influence project outcomes through the review of designs, departures, technical submissions, specifications,standardsand project documentation, ensuring alignment with organisational requirements, industrypracticeand governmentobjectives.

Contribute to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of pavement engineering standards, specifications, guidance, assuranceframeworksand technical governance practices across VIDA's project portfolio.

Represent VIDA as a specialist technical authority in engagement with DTP, industry, delivery partners, consultants and other stakeholders,facilitatingcollaboration and resolution of complex engineering issues.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Technical Services, the Specialist, Pavement Engineer provides specialist pavement engineering advice and technical assurance services across the development and delivery of Big Build Roads projects. The role supports a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from strategic business cases and planning studies through to detailed design, procurement,constructionand handover.

You are an experiencedCivil Engineer with a history of pavement design and analysis.

You havean advancedunderstanding of Australian and Victorian pavement design requirements, including national and statestandards,guidelinesand specifications.

You communicate well withother technical experts andprojectstaff, ideally with experiencerepresentinga road authority orstate baseddelivery agency.
