Job summary

Caval Ridge in Queensland's Bowen Basin is part of BHP and offers a Mine Scheduling role focused on drill and blast planning. You will design blast patterns, schedule drilling and blasting activities, and work with Operations, Mine Planning, Geology and Survey teams to align with production targets.

This is a technical engineering position with a day shift, an 8/6 roster, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

About The Role
Caval Ridge is in Queensland's Bowen Basin on the traditional lands of the Barada Barna people.
At Caval Ridge specifically, the role sits within the Mine Scheduling team and works closely with Operations, Mine Planning, and Integrated Planning teams to produce and execute drill and blast plans while driving continuous improvement initiatives. The role is a technical engineering position rather than a frontline supervisory role. Roster is 8 days on, 6 days off; Day Shift.

Key Responsibilities

• Designing blast patterns including hole spacing, burden, stemming and explosive loads to achieve the desired fragmentation.
• Developing and managing drill and blast schedules to support the short and medium-term mine plan.
• Working closely with Operations, Mine Planning, Geology and Survey teams to ensure drill and blast activities align with production targets.
• Monitoring blast performance and conducting reconciliations, analysing results and implementing improvements to maximise productivity and minimise cost.
• Managing safety and compliance requirements related to explosives, blasting practices and field activities.
• Using mine planning and design software such as Blastlogic, Vulcan, Deswik, and scheduling tools to create and optimise drill and blast plans.

About You
