Job summary

BHP is seeking a Specialist Engineer in Drill and Blast for Caval Ridge, Bowen Basin, Queensland. The role is part of the Mine Scheduling team, focusing on designing blast patterns and developing schedules to align with the mine plan.

It requires experience in drill and blast design, mine planning software, and data-driven improvements. The position emphasizes safety, compliance, and collaboration with Operations, Geology, and Survey teams to optimise production and reduce costs.

Qualifications

Mining Engineering or related qualifications.
Drill and blast design experience.
Experience with mine planning software and data analysis.

Responsibilities

Design blast patterns including hole spacing, burden, stemming and explosive loads.
Develop and manage drill and blast schedules to support the short and medium-term mine plan.
Work with Operations, Mine Planning, Geology and Survey teams to align activities with production targets.
Monitor blast performance, analyze results and implement improvements to maximise productivity and minimise cost.
Manage safety and compliance related to explosives, blasting practices and field activities.
Use mine planning and design software to create and optimise drill and blast plans.
