Job summary

Pacific Hope Christian School in Tweed Heads NSW is seeking a passionate Teacher Assistant for Term 1, 2027. Permanent full-time and part-time positions are available, with negotiable days for the right candidate.

The role supports students with additional needs under the classroom teacher, contributing to individualized and small-group instruction. Experience with disability is desirable but not essential, and the school emphasizes a caring Christian learning community.

Qualifications

• Passion to support students with special needs
• Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
• Initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Current First Aid Certificate
• Ability to facilitate a safe work environment
• Qualified or working toward a qualification in Education Support or a Special Needs Certificate

Responsibilities

• Support student learning under the direction of the teacher with individual and small groups of students, both within and outside of the classroom
• Assist with planning, preparation, and delivery of educational programs to support student needs
• Ensure student confidentiality is consistent with school policy and legislative requirements
• Ensure, in line with School policy, ongoing Professional Development
• Maintain cooperative working relationships with other team members and stakeholders
• Provide interventions and support to meet the safety, social, emotional, health and personal care needs of students, where required
• Provide assistance with school routines and classroom activities
