Job summary

Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development NSW – Orange NSW is seeking a Spatial & Data Intelligence Officer to design and deliver BI, spatial and reporting solutions. You will develop GIS products, Power BI dashboards, data models and system integrations for improved decision-making and customer outcomes.

You will bring extensive GIS experience and skills in Power BI, SQL, data integration and automation, plus familiarity with Esri tools and Python.

Qualifications

• Extensive GIS experience and a passion for spatial data to support business outcomes.
• Experience or interest in developing skills in Power BI, SQL, data integration and automation.
• Experience with the Esri suite and scripting languages such as Python is highly regarded.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, translating technical info into practical solutions.
• Experience in Geographic Information Systems and Power BI dashboard design and data modelling.

• Clerk Grade 7/8– salary from$116,981 to $129,492per annum(FTE)plus super and leave loading

About the Role

As a Spatial & Data Intelligence Officer, you will work with stakeholders to design and deliver business intelligence, spatial and reporting solutions that improve decision-making and customer outcomes. You will develop GIS products, Power BI dashboards, data models and system integrations, while identifying opportunities to improve business processes and the value of data governance. The role also contributes to emergency preparedness and response activities supporting biosecurity and food safety operations across NSW.

About You

You are a motivated and collaborative professional with experience in business intelligence, geospatial information systems and data analytics. You enjoy solving complex problems, engaging with stakeholders and transforming data into clear, actionable insights adhering to data governance.

You will bring:

• Extensive GIS experience and a passion for using spatial data to support business outcomes.
• Experience or an interest in developing skills in Power BI, SQL, data integration and automation.
• Experience with the Esri suite and scripting languages such as Python will be highly regarded.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information into practical solutions.
• Experience in Geographic Information Systems
• Experience in PowerBI, including designing and building data models/schema, and creating interactive and static dashboards
• Ability and willingness to work within emergency management responses, including weekends and outside normal business hours as required.
• Current NSW Drivers Licence and the ability and willingness to travel
