Job summary

BuildRight Construction AU is seeking a capable and experienced Sous Chef to strengthen its kitchen leadership team in Queensland, Australia. The role suits chefs who can demonstrate professional experience, qualifications, leadership ability and a commitment to high kitchen standards.

As Sous Chef, you will work alongside the Head Chef to coordinate operations, maintain food quality, support the team during busy services, develop menu ideas, monitor stock, and ensure HACCP compliance.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience as Sous Chef or Senior Chef.
• Strong leadership and team supervision skills.
• Solid knowledge of food safety and HACCP practices.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily kitchen activities and support efficient service delivery.
• Maintain consistent kitchen standards in collaboration with the Head Chef.
• Supervise kitchen staff and provide direction during peak service periods.
• Mentor junior chefs and kitchen team members.
• Develop new menu items, specials, and seasonal offerings.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with purchasing and ordering.
• Control food costs and minimize kitchen waste.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and HACCP procedures.
