Job summary

Sodexo Ltd is seeking a Sous Chef/Second Chef for Larkhill Garrison, Wiltshire. You will lead a team, ensure high-quality meals for armed forces personnel, and maintain kitchen operations to the highest standards.

This role involves supervising junior chefs, managing stock and ordering, adhering to EH guidelines, and collaborating with Front of House to deliver exceptional service. On-the-job training and funded apprenticeships are offered.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2/3 (or equivalent) in a busy kitchen.
• Basic IT skills including Microsoft Office.
• Experience in menu planning and production.
• Exposure to bulk cooking and large-scale meal prep.
• Willingness to learn and develop culinary skills.
• Positive, approachable, team-oriented attitude.

Responsibilities

• Take charge in absence of senior colleagues, guiding the production team.
• Supervise commis chefs, chef de parties and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
• Assist in ordering, prep, stock control, service running and clean-down duties.
• Maintain adherence to Environmental Health Officer guidelines for a safe kitchen.
• Maximise use of existing stock and demonstrate culinary innovation.
• Collaborate with Front of House to ensure excellent service.
• Develop and support the kitchen team through training and development.
• Oversee sanitation and hygiene standards across the team.
• Prepare, produce and present food to high culinary standards.

• Collaborate with the Front of House (FOH) team to ensure a seamless and excellent service experience.
• Work alongside your kitchen team on the range, training, guiding, and developing talent.
• Oversee sanitation practices, ensuring all employees follow hygiene standards and regulations.
• Prepare, produce, and present food to the highest culinary standards, consistently exceeding expectations.

What you bring:

• NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent experience in a busy kitchen environment.
• Basic IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience in menu planning and production.
• Exposure to bulk cooking and large-scale meal preparation.
• A strong desire to learn and develop new culinary skills.
• A positive, approachable, and team-oriented attitude.
