About the Role
As Sommelier, you will take ownership of the day-to-day wine program at Morrison’s, working closely with the Group Sommelier, management and service teams to continue developing a distinctive and exciting wine offering.
You will have the opportunity to put your own identity into the wine list — from discovering new producers and regions to developing the list around the food, the restaurant and our guests. At the same time, you will work closely with the Group Sommelier and the wider wine team, sharing ideas, knowledge and opportunities across the group.

Your Responsibilities
Take ownership of the wine program and continue to develop its identity and direction.
Report directly to the Group Sommelier and work as part of the wider group wine team.
Be highly visible during service and actively engage with guests and the team.
Provide knowledgeable, warm and personalised wine recommendations.
Work closely with the kitchen and management team to develop wine and food pairings.
Manage wine purchasing, ordering, stock levels and supplier relationships.
Oversee the organisation, condition and rotation of the wine cellar.
Maintain accurate wine inventories and ensure appropriate stock levels.
Develop and maintain the wine list, including researching new and interesting wines and producers.
Introduce new wines and create excitement around the program.
Help build a strong wine culture across the restaurant through staff training, tastings and education.
Mentor and develop the wider team’s wine knowledge and confidence.
Work with the Group Sommelier and management on wine sales, margins and commercial performance.
Collaborate on tastings, supplier relationships, education and wine initiatives across the venues.
Represent Morrison’s when dealing with producers, distributors and wine professionals.
Stay curious and up to date with developments across the Australian and international wine industry.
