Job summary

Western Sydney University seeks an experienced Architect to lead identity and access management initiatives across a broad portfolio. You will guide the design and delivery of secure, scalable IDAM solutions and collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Cloud, Security, and Solution Architects to deliver architecture outcomes.

The role focuses on Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Saviynt IGA, BeyondTrust PAM, and related provisioning, lifecycle management, and Zero Trust concepts.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualifications in IT or related discipline, or equivalent extensive experience.
• Senior Solution/Identity/Security/Cloud Architect with enterprise experience.
• Proven expertise in IDAM including authentication, authorisation, federation, provisioning, IGA and PAM.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with influence without authority.
• Experience in Enterprise Architecture practices and governance, using Orbus Infinity or LeanIX.

Full-time, 12-month fixed term contract at HEW Level 9.

Parramatta South Campus with flexible working arrangements.

$139,747 - $149,238 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading.

Lead identity and access architecture that underpins secure, scalable and connected digital services across the University.

The Opportunity

You will provide architecture leadership across a portfolio of strategic initiatives, guiding the design and delivery of Identity and Access Management (IDAM) solutions that enable secure and reliable access to University systems and services. Working within the Enterprise Architecture practice and closely aligned with the Portfolio Management Office, you will support multiple programs and projects through the development of target-state architectures, solution designs and implementation roadmaps.

Your primary focus will be the University's identity ecosystem, including Microsoft Entra ID, Okta SSO/MFA, Saviynt IGA, BeyondTrust PAM, identity provisioning, lifecycle management, authentication, authorisation, federation and Zero Trust architecture. You will evaluate architecture options, balance business and technical requirements, and ensure solutions align with enterprise standards, security requirements and governance expectations.

As a secondary area of expertise, you will provide guidance across Azure infrastructure and networking, including landing zones, hybrid and private connectivity, network segmentation, infrastructure security and cloud platform governance. Working closely with Enterprise, Cloud, Security, Integration, Data and Solution Architects, you will help deliver integrated architectural outcomes while contributing to reusable standards, patterns and capability uplift across the architecture practice.

• Deliver high-quality solution architectures and implementation roadmaps that align with Enterprise Architecture principles and strategic objectives.
• Lead architecture design activities across IDAM platforms including Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Saviynt and BeyondTrust.
• Provide clear, evidence-based recommendations that balance business needs, risk, cost and long-term sustainability.
• Maintain accurate architecture decisions, risks, dependencies and traceability within architecture repositories.
• Support successful project outcomes through effective collaboration with architects, stakeholders, project teams and vendors.

About You

• Postgraduate qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent extensive experience.
• Demonstrated experience as a Senior Solution Architect, Identity Architect, Security Architect, Cloud Architect or similar role within a complex enterprise environment.
• Proven expertise across Identity and Access Management domains including authentication, authorisation, federation, identity provisioning, IGA and PAM.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation, negotiation and communication skills with the ability to influence without direct authority.
• Experience working within Enterprise Architecture practices, governance frameworks and architecture repositories such as Orbus Infinity, LeanIX or equivalent.
