Sigma Healthcare is seeking a Solutions Architect to lead architecture for Ecommerce and Digital platforms. Reporting to the Head of Architecture, you will translate complex requirements into practical platforms while aligning with enterprise strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in IT or related field preferred.
• Minimum eight years in a senior architecture role, healthcare background preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ecommerce architecture and scalable platforms.

About the team

The Ecommerce department is responsible for delivering and continuously improving Sigma Healthcare’s online shopping experience, enabling customers to conveniently discover, purchase, and engage with our products and services through digital channels. The department exists to support business growth by providing a seamless, reliable, and customer-focused digital commerce experience while partnering across the organisation to deliver value for customers, stores, and the wider business.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Architecture and sitting within the IT team, the Solutions Architect will provide architectural leadership and strategic technical direction across the organisation’s eCommerce and digital platforms.

With approximately 80% of the role focused on eCommerce, this is an exciting opportunity to shape the technology that supports digital customer journeys, online growth and business performance. You will help ensure solutions are scalable, secure, reliable and sustainable, while guiding the design and delivery of innovative platforms that enhance the customer experience.

Bridging business needs and technology outcomes, you will work closely with business and technology stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical solutions. You will also ensure digital initiatives align with enterprise architecture principles, broader technology strategy and long-term business objectives.

Role Responsibilities

• Provide solution architecture leadership for Ecommerce and Digital Engineering platforms, ensuring solutions align with business objectives, enterprise architecture principles, and technology strategy.
• Define and maintain scalable, secure, and sustainable architecture approaches for digital platforms, customer experiences, integrations, and supporting services.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, product teams, engineering teams, and enterprise architecture to translate business requirements into effective technology solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and architectural oversight throughout the delivery lifecycle, from initial concept and design through to implementation and production support.
• Assess technology options and provide recommendations that balance business value, technical feasibility, scalability, risk, and cost.
• Partner with Engineering Managers and technical leads to support effective delivery, resolve complex technical challenges, and ensure solutions are implemented as designed.
• Collaborate with technology vendors and delivery partners to evaluate solutions, review technical proposals, and ensure alignment with organisational standards.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineering teams, fostering strong architectural practices and capability uplift across Digital Engineering.

Who are we looking for?

• A tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
• At least eight years’ experience in a Solutions Architecture, Architecture or similar senior technology role, ideally within the healthcare industry.
• Strong experience in digital commerce architecture, including eCommerce platforms, customer journeys, digital channels and supporting technologies.
• A strong understanding of solution architecture principles and the design of scalable, secure, reliable and maintainable enterprise digital solutions.
• Practical knowledge of modern architecture patterns, including composable commerce, API-driven architecture, microservices, cloud-native solutions and integration patterns.
• A strong understanding of eCommerce ecosystems, including product catalogue, search, customer management, checkout, payments, fulfilment, order management and third-party integrations.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, application hosting models, security principles and operational requirements for highly available digital platforms.
• Highly developed analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to assess complex requirements, evaluate technology options, manage technical risks and recommend practical solutions that balance customer experience, business value, scalability, cost and maintainability.
