Job summary

The University of Queensland (UQ) is seeking a Solution Architect - Data to lead the organisation's data architecture, standards, and enterprise models. Based at St Lucia, you will guide data platforms, integration solutions, and governance to enable trusted, reusable data capabilities and scalable delivery across programs.

You will mentor data modellers, collaborate with business and delivery teams, and shape technology roadmaps while promoting innovation and best practices.

Qualifications

About This Opportunity

The Solution Architect - Data provides strategic leadership for the organisation's data architecture, establishing the frameworks, standards, and enterprise data models that enable trusted, integrated, and reusable data capabilities. The role guides solution delivery, platform evolution, and promotes innovation and continuous improvement across data and integration services.

• Define and maintain the enterprise data architecture, standards, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives, enterprise architecture principles, and data governance frameworks.
• Establish and promote data architecture principles, standards, patterns, and best practices to enable consistent, trusted, and reusable data capabilities across the organization.
• Lead the development and governance of enterprise data modelling frameworks and standards across conceptual, logical, and physical layers, while providing leadership and mentoring to data modellers to ensure consistent adoption and organisational capability growth.
• Provide solution design leadership and architectural oversight for data platforms, and integration solutions, ensuring scalability, performance, security, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
• Partner with business stakeholders, architects, and delivery teams to translate business requirements into effective data solutions and provide architectural guidance throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Drive data platform capability uplift, shaping the technology roadmap, evaluating emerging technologies, managing architectural risk and technical debt, and ensuring compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.

You will demonstrate:

• Qualifications equivalent to a postgraduate degree in IT or related field, or extensive relevant experience.
• Proven expertise in designing, implementing, and operating complex integration solutions in large enterprises.
• Experience applying agile project management methodologies to deliver outcomes.
• Strong leadership skills with experience motivating and managing teams in dynamic environments.
• Advanced problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities to drive innovative solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build effective stakeholder relationships.
