Position Overview:

The purpose of this Solid Plastering (Rendering) Apprenticeship in Toowoomba is to provide the successful applicant with the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge through completing on the job working experience and training with an employer whilst completing a nationally recognised course of training through a registered training organisation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Renderers apply decorative and protective coverings of plaster, cement and similar materials to the interiors and exteriors of structures.

Day-to-day tasks may include:

• fixing pre-cast cornices, panel mouldings, ceiling centres and other plaster fittings.
• covering joins and nail holes with wet plaster and sealing compounds, and smoothing them using wet brushes and sand paper.
• mixing and applying coats of plaster, cement and render to structures using trowels, and leveling and smoothing coats to uniform thickness.
• plumbing and straightening corners, angles and wall and ceiling surfaces.
• creating decorative textures in finishing coats.

• Commit to and complete the Training Plan in the timeframe allocated by completing theory based assessments and demonstrating skills through competency based assessments to the best of your ability.
