Job summary

Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer seeks a Solicitor to join its leading Trade Marks team, based in Melbourne or Sydney. You will work within an integrated IP disputes group, advising on national and international trade mark matters, rebranding, clearance, and disputes across leading clients.

You will contribute to a market-leading practice, collaborating with top IP partners and leveraging knowledge in AI and emerging technologies to support clients globally.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of demonstrable experience across trade mark prosecutions from a leading national or international private practice, or an in-house environment.
• Admission as a Lawyer in Australia or New Zealand.
• An excellent academic record coupled with strong legal skills and a practical mindset.
• A proactive approach and desire to be an integral member of our leading and supportive team.
• An ability to work to tight timeframes, collaboratively and at times autonomously.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to demonstrate collegiality within a team.
• Have a hunger to learn and develop, and be part of maintaining a market-leading practice.
• An innovative mindset, curious about AI and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

• Undertake a range of work that supports national and international clients including trade mark filing and prosecution, rebranding and clearance advice, and consents & co-existence agreements.
• Advise on IP aspects of due diligence and support on trade mark and domain name disputes.

We are seeking a Solicitor to join our leading Trade Marks team to be based in Melbourne or Sydney.

As a member of the Trade Marks team, you will also work closely with the broader IP disputes practice including with leading IP partners Rebekah Gay, Emma Iles, and Anna Vandervliet. You will undertake a range of work that supports national and international clients including:

• Australian and international trade mark filing and prosecution;
• Rebranding and clearance advice;
• Drafting and negotiating consents and co-existence agreements;
• Advising on intellectual property aspects of due diligence; and
• Providing support on trade mark and domain name disputes.
