Job summary

Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer seeks a Solicitor to join our leading Trademarks team based in Melbourne or Sydney. You will work closely with the IP disputes practice and handle Australian and international trademark filing, prosecution, rebranding, clearances, and due diligence on IP matters.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in trademark prosecutions at a top firm or in-house, is admitted in Australia or NZ, and combines an excellent academic record with strong legal skills, a proactive

Job description

We are seeking a Solicitor to join our leading Trademarks team to be based in Melbourne or Sydney.

As a member of the Trademarks team, you will also work closely with the broader IP disputes practice including with leading IP partners Rebekah Gay, Emma Iles, and Anna Vandervliet. You will undertake a range of work that supports national and international clients including:

• Australian and international trademark filing and prosecution;
• Rebranding and clearance advice;
• Drafting and negotiating consents and co-existence agreements;
• Advising on intellectual property aspects of due diligence; and
• Providing support on trademark and domain name disputes.

What you’ll bring

• 3+ years of demonstrable experience across trademark prosecutions from a leading national or international private practice, or an in-house environment;
• Admission as a Lawyer in Australia or New Zealand;
• An excellent academic record coupled with strong legal skills and a practical mindset;
• A proactive approach and desire to be an integral member of our leading and supportive team;
• An ability to work to tight timeframes, collaboratively and at times autonomously;
• Excellent communication skills and ability to demonstrate collegiality within a team;
• Have a hunger to learn and develop, and be part of maintaining a market-leading practice;
• An innovative mindset, curious about AI and emerging technologies.
