Job summary

My Energy Group is seeking an experienced Solar PV + Battery Designer to join our Sydney team. You will design solar PV and battery storage systems for commercial and industrial sites, and perform site visits to gather information for accurate designs and project delivery.

You will produce detailed drawings and electrical schematics with AutoCAD, PVsyst, and Helioscope, collaborate with sales and installers, and ensure compliance with relevant codes.

Qualifications

• A degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2+ years of solar PV design experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst and Helioscope.
• SAA accredited Solar designer and BESS licence.

Responsibilities

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Solar PV + Battery Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing solar PV systems and battery storage solutions, along with the ability to conduct site visits to gather all necessary information for design work and provide support during the project delivery stage with in-house installation team and external contractors. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, field experience, and strong communication skills to ensure the delivery of top-notch solar energy projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Engineering:

Develop detailed solar PV and battery storage system designs for commercial, and industrial projects.

Perform system sizing, energy yield analysis, and financial modelling.

Create single-line diagrams, layout drawings, and electrical schematics using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, Open Solar).

Conduct site visits to capture all required information, including measurements, shading analysis, structural assessments, and electrical evaluations.

Evaluate site conditions and constraints to optimize system performance and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.

Project Coordination:

Collaborate with sales teams to provide pre-sale technical support and assist in the preparation of project proposals, quotations and tender submissions.

Work closely with installation teams to ensure designs are implemented correctly and efficiently.

Coordinate with utility companies, permitting authorities, and other stakeholders as needed.

Quality Assurance:

Ensure all designs meet company standards, industry best practices, and local regulations.

Conduct post-installation reviews and performance assessments to verify system functionality and client satisfaction.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate and organized project documentation, including design files, site visit reports, and communication logs.

Provide regular updates to project managers and clients on project status and any design-related issues.

Qualifications:

A degree in electrical engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.

Minimum of 2+ years of experience in solar PV system design, with a focus on battery storage solutions.

Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, and other relevant tools.

Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and best practices related to solar PV and battery systems.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to conduct site visits and perform physical tasks as required.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.

SAA accredited Solar designer and BESS licence.

Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.
