Job summary

The Company (Confidential) is seeking a Software Engineer to join a secure on-site team in Melbourne (Scoresby) or Canberra. You will contribute across the full software delivery lifecycle—design, development, testing, integration and deployment—working closely with engineers, architects, BAs and stakeholders to deliver robust, secure solutions.

Essential: Agile delivery, strong fundamentals, testing principles, and clear communication.

Qualifications

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a Software Engineer to join a growing team, working on-site within a secure environment in either Melbourne (Scoresby) or Canberra.

You’ll contribute across the full software delivery lifecycle-design, development, testing, integration and deployment-working closely with engineers, architects, BAs and customer stakeholders to deliver robust, secure, maintainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop innovative software solutions to complex problems
• Contribute to (and at times lead) Agile story definition and estimation
• Build and maintain unit/integration tests and contribute to test automation
• Support CI and automation practices
• Integrate and deploy systems using SecDevOps approaches
• Contribute to web UI development and UX evolution
• Investigate defects, perform root-cause analysis, and implement fixes
• Produce and maintain clear technical documentation
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and customer stakeholders to deliver shared outcomes

About You (Skills & Experience)

Essential:

• Experience working in Agile delivery environments
• Strong software engineering fundamentals (clean code, secure development, coding standards)
• Strong quality mindset with sound testing principles
• Confident communicator (written and verbal) with strong teamwork capability
• Ability to analyse problems and deliver practical, maintainable solutions
• Comfortable switching between tasks based on delivery priorities

Nice to have (but not essential):

• Full-stack exposure (React / Angular / .NET / Java)
• Systems integration using REST APIs, JSON, XML and integration patterns
• Open-source ecosystem exposure (NiFi, Kafka, Elastic/ELK, Solr)
• CI/CD tooling and IaC (e.g., Ansible, GitLab, Git)
• Containers (Docker / Kubernetes)
• Jira / Confluence
• Linux and/or Windows environments

Security & Eligibility (Mandatory)

• Australian Citizen only
• Active TSPV clearance required (must already be current)
