Job summary

Nuix is building an AI engineering team in Sydney to develop Enrich, a data-enrichment product that identifies and codifies data in unstructured documents. You will work across a modern stack (Java, Python, React/TypeScript) in a cross-timezone team and own user stories end-to-end.

As a mid-level Software Engineer, you will write well-tested code, participate in backlog grooming, CI/CD, and contribute to the wider engineering conversation while growing with AI components and secure coding

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Typically 3+ years of related software engineering experience.
• Proficient in Java or Python, and in React/TypeScript with willingness to become full-stack.
• Strong testing, version control and CI/CD fundamentals.
• Basic understanding of secure coding concepts.
• Interest in AI/ML, NLP or document-intelligence domains is a plus.
• Clear communication and collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Deliver user stories end-to-end with high quality and minimal rework.
• Ensure code styling and design patterns are followed; include meaningful unit tests, with all code covered by testing.
• Apply basic security concepts in the code you write and follow secure-coding practices.
• Investigate and fix build/test issues in the CI/CD pipeline.
• Actively participate in backlog grooming and planning, providing reasonable estimates.
• Share knowledge with the team and contribute to the wiki; support onboarding of newer team members.
• Grow your understanding of the broader system, including our model-backed and AI components.

Role Overview

Join our new Sydney AI engineering team, building and maintaining Enrich — our AI data-enrichment product that finds, identifies and codifies data in unstructured documents — and contributing to new AI and agentic capability in the Nuix Neo platform. You'll work across a modern stack (Java, Python, React/TypeScript/MUI) in a cross-timezone team, with plenty of room to grow.

As a mid-level Software Engineer you take ownership of user stories end-to-end, write well-tested and well-styled code, and are increasingly active in the wider engineering conversation — backlog grooming, CI/CD, and customer-facing context.

Location

This position will be based in our Sydney office. The candidate is required to attend the office a minimum of 3 days per week but may voluntarily elect to work either remotely or from the Sydney office for the remaining 2 days of the week.

• Working proficiency in one or more of Java, Python or React/TypeScript, with a willingness to become full-stack.
• Solid grasp of testing practices, version control and CI/CD fundamentals.
• Basic understanding of secure coding concepts.
• Interest in AI/ML, NLP or document-intelligence domains is a plus.
• Communicates clearly, takes feedback well, and shows a proactive, collaborative mindset.
