Job summary

Nuix Limited is seeking an Associate Cloud Operations Engineer to support production deployments, automation, observability and security in our AWS-based SaaS environment. You will work closely with engineering, DevOps and customer teams to deploy dynamic solutions and run SaaS instances in the cloud.

The role requires 2+ years in a cloud/DevOps setting, strong AWS knowledge, and hands-on scripting/IaC experience. This is a hybrid Sydney role with three days in-office per week.

Qualifications

• 2+ years as a Sys Admin, SRE, Cloud Engineer or DevOps in a SaaS/production environment.
• Proven expertise with AWS infrastructure and services.
• Experience with IaC (Terraform preferred) and CI/CD automation.

Responsibilities

• Manage production deployments and automated configuration.
• Improve observability with metrics, logs and traces.
• Support incidents and on-call duties; participate in post-incident reviews.

Role Overview

As an Associate Cloud Operations Engineer, you will be at the forefront of our software technology, assisting customers that are taking advantage of growing and evolving set of products in the cloud. You will be responsible for production deployments, automated configuration, observability & monitoring, security mitigations, manage support requests and issue resolution, bug identification. Every day will bring new and exciting challenges.

While you will have an opportunity to:

• Learn and use ground-breaking technologies across Nuix’s eDiscovery, Review, Intelligence, Risk and Security platforms.
• Manage automated deployments, advanced system administration, optimization and troubleshooting techniques to provide unique solutions to our SaaS environment.
• Work hands-on with customers to engineering and architecture, deploy run highly dynamic solutions and SaaS instances running in our AWS environment.

Location

This is a hybrid role; 3 days in the Sydney office.

Key Responsibilities

• Excellent communication skills and love for learning
• Ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and see to completion
• Good understanding of Automation, scripting skills such as Terraform, CloudFormation, CI/CD
• Improve observability with metrics, logs, and traces
• Partner with stakeholders including, engineering, DevOps, customer support…etc.
• Participate in incident response and post-incident reviews with a blameless culture.
• Support production systems diagnose, troubleshoot and participate in on-call roster.
• Release and deployment manage deployments and rollouts, or functional testing.
• Security posture improvements, regular audits, patching and firewalling, hotfix deployments.
• Participate in on-call duties, participation in on-call roster, be available outside of business hours when required.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• 2+ years of experience as an Sys Admin, SRE, Cloud Engineer, or DevOps Engineer in a SaaS or large-scale production environment.
• Proven expertise with AWS infrastructure and services.
• Understanding of AWS services, networking, and distributed architectures.
• Good knowledge with Scripting and IaC (Terraform preferred).
• Familiarity with CI/CD automation, container orchestration (EKS/Kubernetes), and monitoring frameworks.
• Collaborative mindset — comfortable working unsupervised, across teams.
• A passion for automation, design, and continuous improvement.

Desired Expertise

• AWS or Kubernetes Professional-level certification
• Experience with AWS SaaS environments
• Familiarity with FinOps and cost-optimization practices
• Exposure to security compliance (SOC2, ISO 27001, GDPR)
• Experience implementing chaos engineering or resilience testing
