Job summary

Found Life Pty Ltd in Melbourne is seeking a Full-time Software Engineer to design, build and own the software that runs our hardware products.

You'll set technical direction across device, cloud and mobile app, in a small team with real ownership, and bring prototypes to production with rigorous testing and field support.

We value embedded systems experience, low-level device interfaces and secure update mechanisms, and a degree in computer engineering or computer science.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial software engineering with embedded hardware experience.
• Degree in computer engineering or computer science, or equivalent.
• Experience with device interfaces and communication protocols.

Responsibilities

• Design and own software architecture spanning device, cloud and app.
• Develop embedded software to control hardware.
• Build backend services and APIs for devices.
• Create user interfaces for touchscreen and mobile apps.
• Own safety-critical control logic and its tests.
• Take prototypes to production with commissioning and field support.
• Document systems so future engineers can pick it up.

The role

Full-time Software Engineer, based in Melbourne. You'll set the technical direction for our software across the device, the cloud and the app, and you'll be the person who knows how it all fits together. A small team, with real ownership.

What you'll do

• Design and own the software architecture across our products, from the device to the cloud to the app
• Build the embedded software that controls our hardware
• Build the back-end services and APIs behind it
• Build the interfaces customers use, on the product and on their phone
• Own safety-critical control logic and the testing that proves it
• Take software from prototype to production: commissioning, validation and support in the field
• Document it so the next engineer can pick it up

What you'll bring

• 3+ years of commercial software engineering, including embedded software on real hardware
• Low-level device interfaces and communication protocols
• Back-end services, APIs and data design for devices in the field
• User interfaces for touchscreens and mobile apps
• Secure software updates for devices in the field, and CI/CD
• Safety-critical control logic, tested on real hardware
• A degree in computer engineering, computer science or similar, or equivalent experience
