Job summary

ProFound People Pty Ltd is seeking a Software and Systems Engineer to write, integrate, and prove the software that sits between product hardware and the people who use it. The role emphasizes strong C++ on real hardware and a disciplined testing approach, with experience in regulated industries considered an asset.

Based in Perth with an option for Melbourne office, you will own features from concept to verification, collaborate across electronics, embedded, and QA, and help shape the test

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in electrical, electronics, mechatronic, or software engineering, or computer science.
• Strong production C++ or C close to hardware, with deep debugging instincts across software/firmware/electronics.
• Confident in multithreaded code, memory use, and failure handling.
• Experience defining interfaces and tracing requirements to verification for hardware/software products.
• Familiar with Git, peer reviews, automated builds, and unit testing as part of the process.

Responsibilities

• Own clearly scoped features, size the effort, and report blockers to the team.
• Turn product needs into precise, verifiable requirements and design write ups.
• Bench-time integration of software and electronics using test equipment.
• Write and refine C++/C for the system interfacing with electronics and data movement.
• Track intermittent faults, latency, and data issues, isolating causes.
• Use Python to automate checks, analyze captured data, and speed up work.
• Build automated tests for software on hardware and in isolation, including fault injection.
• Maintain code health through peer review, CI pipelines, and versioned releases.
• Collaborate with electronics, embedded, and quality teams as the product evolves.
