Job summary

Howden Australia is seeking a Software Engineer to shape the technology behind Howden Bridge, our online quote-and-bind platform. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to influence the digital insurance capability within a growing global organisation.

You will own end-to-end software development, from design through testing and release, collaborating with Operations, Broking, Underwriting, Solutions and Architecture teams to deliver practical, secure and scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Has strong commercial software development experience across the full development lifecycle.
• Experience developing web applications, APIs and integrations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ownership of technical outcomes.
• Ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Understanding of software architecture, security and development best practices.

Responsibilities

• Developing new features, products, integrations and enhancements that support Howden's digital distribution strategy.
• Working closely with Operations, Broking, Underwriting, Solutions and Architecture teams to turn business requirements into practical technology solutions.
• Designing secure, scalable, reliable and user-friendly solutions.
• Investigating and resolving complex production issues and defects.
• Providing technical guidance to other engineers and helping improve engineering standards and development practices.
• Contributing to the longer-term technical roadmap for Bridge and associated digital products.
