Job summary

Computracts Pty is recruiting for a Software Development Engineer on a daily rate contract with hybrid work arrangements. The role focuses on developing, enhancing and maintaining information systems for customers and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will contribute to real-time application development, coordinate with IT vendors and staff to meet time, cost and quality targets, and build diagnostic tools to deliver improved features and monitoring.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in planning, development, implementation and high-level technical maintenance of medium to large applications.
• Strong Java skills across platforms and experience with database programming.
• Government experience is highly regarded.

Our client is a large NSW Government Organisation who are seeking a Software Development Engineer to join their team.

The Software Development Engineer is responsible for undertaking development work for the creation, enhancement and maintenance of information systems and products for use by customers and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Undertake software development work on a range of applications in Real Time, including creation, enhancement and maintenance work to deliver projects that meet customer requirements
2. Manage the delivery of development, configuration and enhancement work completed internally and externally through IT vendors, contractors, and staff, including monitoring performance and project outcomes to ensure delivery meets agreed time, cost and quality requirements
3. Develop special diagnostic and monitoring tools to manage information and undertake business critical development and enhancement work to deliver solutions that incorporate improved features

Selection Criteria:

1. Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or equivalent or demonstrated equivalent industry experience
2. Demonstrated, minimum 6 years’ in the planning, development, implementation and high level technical maintenance of medium to large applications
3. Highly developed skills in several contemporary programming tools and languages, in particular Java, across different platforms and experience with database programming
4. Government experience highly regarded
