Job summary

North West Hospital and Health Service in North West Queensland seeks a qualified Social Worker to undertake comprehensive psychosocial assessments, high-risk screening and develop intervention plans. The role involves delivering clinical guidance and supervising staff, while upholding professional standards.

You will apply legislation and contemporary social work practice across trauma, end-of-life care, child protection and related complex areas, contributing to patient wellbeing and service

Qualifications

  • Must hold a relevant tertiary degree in Social Work.
  • Eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • C Class Motor Vehicle Licence is required.
  • Pre-employment screening includes criminal history checks.

About the role

  • Undertake comprehensive psychosocial assessments, high risk screening, triage and prioritisation, developing appropriate intervention plans and achievable goals.
  • Provide clinical advice, supervision and professional support to Social Work staff, students and colleagues while promoting high standards of practice.
  • Apply your knowledge of legislation, policy and contemporary Social Work practice across complex areas including trauma, end-of-life care, child protection, domestic and family issues, elder abuse, guardianship and residential care.

Working with us

  • Eligible health practitioners entitled to accrue an additional three days professional development leave per annum, resulting in a total of six days professional development leave per annum.
  • Eligible health practitioners working in designated remote areas will be entitled to a professional development allowance of $3,512.00 per annum.
  • Rural and Remote incentive: Category D allowance of $431.22 p.f.
  • Tax savings through salary sacrificing options are also available.
  • Transfer and appointment expenses may be negotiated.

Requirements

  • Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences. It is a mandatory requirement for all Social Work positions that the candidate is eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
  • Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
  • Blue Card Check: Potential applicants are advised that the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires Queensland Health to seek a ‘working with children check; from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position.
  • This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
  • A period of probation may apply.
