St Vincent's Private Hospital Toowoomba is seeking a casual Social Worker in the Allied Health department to join a dedicated team and provide quality patient care.

You will apply clinical social work skills in acute care, conduct psychosocial assessments, care planning, and brief interventions, supporting patients and families. AASW membership or eligibility is required, with emphasis on professional development and collaboration with the care team.

Qualifications

  • Current member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or be eligible for membership prior to commencement.
  • Ability to apply social work clinical knowledge and skills in acute care, including psychosocial assessments, care planning, brief interventions, and developing responsive services.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional social work development.
  • High-level communication and negotiation skills including written, verbal, and computer literacy.
  • High-level ability to build collaborative relationships with multidisciplinary team members.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver quality health care as a Social Worker in the Allied Health department.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments and contribute to care planning.
  • Provide brief intervention approaches and develop high-quality services for patients and families.

About the role

Your skills will include:

  • Current member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) or be eligible for membership as a Social Worker prior to commencement in January 2024
  • Ability to apply social work clinical knowledge and skills, experience and clinical reasoning in the acute care setting, including formulation of psychosocial assessments, care planning, brief intervention approaches and the development of a responsive and high quality services in achieving optimal physical, emotional, social health and wellbeing for consumers, families and their care providers.

About our hospital

St Vincent's Private Hospital Toowoomba is the largest acute private hospital on the Darling Downs. We are a 197-bed facility with highly experienced and skilled staff that work as a team to deliver the highest standard of healthcare to all our patients. Our services include medical, surgical, maternity, paediatric, emergency, cardiac, intensive care and rehabilitation. We are supported by comprehensive allied health services and advanced medical and diagnostic services. Pathology, radiology and pharmacy are also available on site, and our emergency department is open 24 hours, seven days a week.
