Job summary

The CAMHS Clinician – Social Worker role at Women’s and Children’s Health Network in Adelaide involves delivering clinical assessment, education, counselling and group work to children, adolescents and families dealing with mental health issues. You will provide multidisciplinary support, participate in community planning, and contribute to culturally responsive services, with supervision as appropriate.

A degree enabling ASW membership is required; full-time, long-term contract with competitive

Qualifications

  • Eligible for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  • Extensive clinical experience with child/adolescent mental health.
  • Ability to design, implement and evaluate preventative/therapeutic programs.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical assessment, therapeutic interventions and multidisciplinary support to children, adolescents and families.
  • Participate in identifying mental health needs in the community and planning, executing and evaluating programs.
  • Promote access and equity of services for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

About the role

The CAMHS Clinician – Social Worker accepts accountability for the outcomes of clinical practice for children, adolescents, and their families with mental health issues and for addressing inconsistencies between practice and policy. The CAMHS Clinician – Social Worker is responsible for ensuring optimal consumer care. The provision of assessment, education, counselling, and group work is considered essential components of care which is directed towards the attainment of optimum consumer health and recovery.

Key duties of the role
  • Provide clinical assessment, therapeutic interventions and multidisciplinary support to children, adolescents and their families.
  • Participating in the identification of mental health needs in the community and in the planning, execution, and evaluation of programs to meet those needs.
  • Promotes access and equity of services for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Participating in the education and training of CAMHS staff, professional groups, and tertiary students
  • A contemporary professional practice portfolio is held with supporting evidence of knowledge and skills commensurate to the role.
Skills and Experience
  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Work with a high degree of responsibility with limited supervision and direction.
  • Extensive clinical experience in the treatment and management of complex child and adolescent mental health issues.
  • Developing, designing, implementing, and evaluating preventative and/or therapeutic programs.
