Job summary

Join the Women’s and Children’s Health Network (WCHN), South Australia’s leading provider of care for women, babies, children and young people. Part-time (0.6FTE) role in Adelaide CBD to support multidisciplinary teams delivering expert nursing care and clinical leadership to children, adolescents and families across acute, chronic illness, injury and mental health.

RN registration with 3+ years post-registration, and mental health qualification or ongoing training are required.

Qualifications

• Registered or eligible for Nursing and Midwifery Board registration with current practicing certificate.
• Enrolled in an approved Mental Health course or holds a mental health practice qualification.
• At least 3 years post-registration nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical knowledge and interventions at the interface of child/adolescent mental health and medical illness.
• Deliver direct mental health nursing, implement therapies, manage cases and evaluate progress.
• Contribute mental health nursing assessment and advice to local clinical teams.
• Contribute to nursing/midwifery practice through clinical protocols and standards.
• Deliver Consultation and Liaison services to other clinical units and professionals.

About the role

Be part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team and provide expert nursing care and clinical leadership to children, adolescents, and their families. Working across acute and chronic illness, injury, and mental health, you will help deliver quality clinical services to those experiencing complex social, emotional, and behavioural challenges within healthcare.

Key duties of the role

• Provide expert clinical knowledge and or interventions at the interface of child and adolescent mental health and medical illness.
• Provide direct mental health nursing, implement different therapeutic interventions, provide individual case management, and evaluate progress.
• Contribute expert mental health nursing assessment and advice to local clinical teams.
• Contribute specific mental health expertise to nursing/midwifery practice through clinical protocol and standards development.
• Deliver Consultation and Liaison services to other clinical units and professionals.

Skills and Experience

• Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate, enrolled in an approved Mental Health course or holds a qualification in mental health practice.
• Registered Nurse with at least 3 years post registration experience.
• Competence in delivering proficient and comprehensive mental health nursing assessment and direct clinical services to children, young people and their families.
• Ability to prioritise workload and meet set timelines.
• Demonstrated ability in the leadership and facilitation of change management.
