Job summary

Women’s and Children’s Health Network in Adelaide, SA, is seeking a CAMHS Occupational Therapist to deliver specialist mental health care for children and adolescents. You will provide assessments, therapeutic interventions, and work within a multidisciplinary regional team to support families across diverse backgrounds.

Applicants must have an appropriate degree and AHPRA registration, strong communication, and experience with complex CAMHS cases.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy and eligible for AHPRA registration.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with professionals within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Clinical experience addressing complex child and adolescent mental health issues.
  • Familiar with a range of assessment/intervention models for children and families.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical assessment and therapeutic interventions to children/adolescents and families.
  • Identify mental health needs in the community and contribute to program planning/evaluation.
  • Promote access/equity for culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Supervise and train OT students on placement in the regional team.
  • Support development of CAMHS OT skills for targeted population groups.

About the role

The CAMHS Clinician – Occupational Therapy is professionally responsible for the outcomes of clinical practice for children, adolescents and their families with mental health issues and for addressing inconsistencies between practice and policy. The CAMHS Clinician – Occupational Therapy is operationally accountable to the Clinical Services Coordinator, and professionally to the Senior Occupational Therapist, for delivering specialist child and adolescent mental health care to consumers with complex needs. The CAMHS Clinician – Occupational Therapy is responsible for ensuring optimal consumer care.

Key duties of the role
  • Provide clinical assessment and therapeutic intervention services to children, adolescents and their families.
  • Participating in the identification of mental health needs in the community and in the planning, execution and evaluation of programs to meet those needs.
  • Promote access and equity of services for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Being responsible for the clinical supervision and training of occupational therapy students on placement within the regional team
  • Contribute to the development and sustainability of mental health occupational therapy skills for the needs of specific population groups.
Skills and Experience
  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board Australia (AHPRA).
  • Communicate and work with other professionals, facilitate group functions and work as a team member.
  • Clinical experience in the treatment and management of complex child and adolescent mental health issues.
  • Knowledge of a variety of assessment and intervention models for working with children, adolescent and families.
