Job summary

Mater Mothers is seeking a highly efficient Social Work Assistant to join their dynamic team at our South Brisbane campus. This fixed-term, part-time role (22.48 hours/week) runs until 12 February 2027.

You will provide clinical and administrative support under delegation to social workers, helping patients access services and maintain records. Salary ranges from $44.06 to $56.52 per hour plus superannuation, with access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $18,550 and other staff benefits.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in a similar role with clinical practice in allied health.
• Proven ability to work autonomously under a defined scope of delegated practice in a complex environment.
• Effective communicator who collaborates with teams, patients and carers.
• Strong organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Sound computer and digital literacy.
• Experience in hospital, sub-acute, disability or community health settings is valued.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and administrative support to Social Work staff under a delegation model of care.
• Assist patients with accessing government and community services, transport and other resources.
• Maintain accurate patient records and communicate updates to social workers.
• Coordinate appointments, calls, emails, calendars and other admin tasks.
• Support telehealth setup and troubleshooting for patients and clinicians.
• Develop and maintain patient education materials and internal procedures.
• Liaise with patients, families, multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.
• Contribute to service improvements and professional development.

Education

Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance

Enrolment in a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work
