Job summary

Vivanti Consulting is seeking a Snowflake Specialist in Sydney to architect and optimize data platforms centered on Snowflake for enterprise clients. You will design scalable data models, implement data sharing, ensure governance, and drive cost-efficient analytics.

You’ll collaborate with data engineers and business stakeholders, apply advanced SQL, and leverage dbt, Airflow, and cloud services to deliver production-grade solutions that scale.

Qualifications

• For Snowflake experience, demonstrated hands-on use; SnowPro cert is nice but not required.
• Delivered production data solutions, not just lab work.
• Advanced SQL proficiency; familiarity with Python/Scala/Java.
• Hands-on with dbt or equivalent & orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster, etc).
• Cloud knowledge in at least one of AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Ability to balance cost/performance in data platform decisions.
• Strong ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

The Role...

As a Snowflake Specialist, you're the architect and engine room – turning raw business data into high-performance, cost-efficient analytics powerhouses.

What you might work on:

• Architecting, building, and optimising modern data platforms centred on Snowflake.
• Designing scalable data models (Data Vault, Star Schema, 3NF, Semantic) tailored for complex enterprise landscapes.
• Implementing robust data sharing, real-time analytics and the latest Snowflake capabilities.
• Optimising performance, warehouse sizing, and cost management across large-scale client environments.
• Establishing rock-solid data governance and security policies (RBAC, row/column-level security).
• Collaborating with data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to solve complex data challenges.

What we're looking for from you:

• Snowflake experience - SnowPro certification is ideal, but if you’re not certified, we will expect demonstrable hands‑on Snowflake experience.
• Real delivery experience with data – you've built and shipped data solutions in production, not just in a lab.
• Advanced SQL – non‑negotiable. Plus at least one of Python, Scala or Java.
• Hands‑on with a modern data stack – dbt or similar transformation tooling, and orchestration (Airflow, Dagster, Fivetran, Matillion, etc).
• Cloud fluency – working knowledge of at least one of Azure, AWS or GCP.
• Cost and performance instincts – you understand that a query that works isn't the same as a query that should ship.
• Client‑ready communication – you can explain a technical trade‑off to a non‑technical stakeholder in language they understand.

Nice to have:

• Infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipeline experience.
• Exposure to Iceberg, Databricks, Starburst or Schema Registry.
• Prior consultancy or multi‑client delivery experience.
