Job summary

Zone IT Solutions Pty Ltd in Sydney seeks a Snowflake Platform Engineer to design, implement and optimize secure, scalable data solutions on Snowflake with Azure integration.

Job description

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Snowflake Platform Engineer. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Snowflake and Azure cloud services, with a solid understanding of data architecture, RBAC, security, and fine-grained access control. This role will be responsible for enabling secure, scalable, and high-performance data solutions across advanced analytics platforms.

Design & Integration:

• Collaborate with solution architects to understand and implement integration between Snowflake and Azure cloud data platforms.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines and ingestion frameworks using Snowflake and Azure-native services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Blob Storage).
• Contribute to the detailed design of the data platform architecture.
• Ensure alignment with enterprise data strategy, security policies, and performance requirements.

Security & Access Control:

• Implement Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and fine-grained access policies in Snowflake.
• Design and enforce data classification-based access controls to support secure data consumption.
• Work with security and compliance teams to ensure governance and auditability.

Performance & Optimization:

• Optimize Snowflake queries and storage for performance and cost-efficiency.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data platform performance issues.
• Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to enable secure and efficient data access.
• Document technical designs, access control policies, and operational procedures.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in data engineering or cloud data platform roles.
• Hands-on expertise with Snowflake, including schema design, query optimization, and access control.
• Strong experience with Azure cloud services, especially in data integration and storage.
• Deep understanding of RBAC, data classification, and security best practices.
• Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages (e.g., Python) would be an added advantage.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Azure DevOps) is a plus.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
