Job summary

Infab Aluminium and Steel Pty Ltd, Infraco's fabrication division, is seeking an experienced Fabricator with strong aluminium fabrication skills for workshop and site-based work on commercial fitout projects.

You will read drawings, cut and weld aluminium components to spec, prepare cutting lists, and assist with on-site installation while maintaining WHS standards and coordinating with project teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in aluminium fabrication, including architectural or facade work.
• Ability to read architectural and shop drawings accurately.
• Proficiency in TIG welding aluminium; MIG/steel welding also valued.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate aluminium components to specification for screens, balustrades, frames and bespoke elements.
• Read and work from architectural and engineering drawings, shop drawings and fabrication schedules.
• Cut, weld TIG/MIG, form and finish aluminium and related metals to a high standard.
• Prepare accurate cutting lists and material take-offs from drawings.
• Carry out on-site installation of fabricated products with site teams.
• Take on-site measure-ups and verify dimensions against shop drawings before fabrication.
• Ensure compliance with Australian Standards and project specifications.
• Maintain safe workshop and site environments per WHS requirements.
• Coordinate with project managers on programme, sequencing and access.

About the role

We're looking for an experienced Skilled Fabricator with a strong background in aluminium fabrication to join our team. This is a hands-on role covering workshop fabrication as well as on-site installation across our commercial fitout projects — so you'll need to be equally comfortable running a job in the shop and delivering it on site.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate aluminium components to specification, including screens, balustrades, frames and custom architectural elements
• Read and work from architectural and engineering drawings, shop drawings and fabrication schedules
• Cut, weld (TIG/MIG), form and finish aluminium and associated metals to a high standard
• Prepare accurate cutting lists and material take-offs from drawings
• Carry out on-site installation of fabricated products, working alongside site teams and other trades
• Conduct on-site measure-ups and verify dimensions against shop drawings prior to fabrication
• Ensure all work complies with relevant Australian Standards and project specifications
• Maintain a safe workshop and site environment in line with WHS requirements
• Liaise with project managers and site supervisors on programme, sequencing and access

About you

• Trade-qualified Boilermaker/Fabricator (Certificate III or equivalent) – highly regarded
• Proven experience in aluminium fabrication (essential) — architectural/facade fabrication experience highly regarded
• Confident TIG welding aluminium; MIG/steel welding experience also valued
• Comfortable working both in the workshop and on commercial construction sites
• Current driver's licence
• Current White Card (construction induction)
• Working at Heights and EWP tickets highly regarded (or willingness to obtain)
• Strong drawing interpretation and attention to dimensional accuracy
• Good communicator, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
