Supervise and coordinate day-to-day civil construction activities.
Plan daily works and communicate clear expectations to site crews.
Allocate labour, plant and equipment to maximise productivity.
Coordinate operators, labourers, truck drivers and subcontractors across work fronts.
Ensure works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and project requirements.
Monitor daily progress against the construction programme.
Identify potential delays, clashes or resource requirements and communicate these to the Site Manager and project team.
Coordinate material deliveries, plant movements and subcontractor activities.
Maintain accurate daily site records, including labour, plant, quantities and completed works.
Lead daily pre-starts, toolbox talks and site safety discussions.
Ensure workers understand and comply with relevant SWMS and site requirements.
Monitor site activities and ensure appropriate controls are implemented.
Identify hazards and address unsafe work practices promptly.
Ensure plant and equipment inspections and pre-starts are completed.
Assist with incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions.
Ensure environmental controls are maintained throughout construction activities.
Promote a strong safety culture across the site.
Ensure works are constructed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
Coordinate with engineers and surveyors regarding set-out, levels and construction requirements.
Monitor workmanship and identify defects or non-conforming works early.
Assist with inspections, ITPs, hold points and quality documentation.
Ensure completed works are protected and maintained.
Assist with resolving construction issues in consultation with the Site Manager and project team.
Provide clear direction and leadership to site crews.
Monitor workforce performance, productivity and attendance.
Coordinate subcontractors and ensure their works align with the overall programme.
Mentor operators, labourers and junior team members.
Maintain professional communication with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and other stakeholders.
Promote teamwork, accountability and a positive site culture.
Assist with short-term programming and forward planning of upcoming works.
Identify upcoming labour, plant, material and subcontractor requirements.
Communicate material and procurement requirements to the project team in advance.
Assist with tracking daily production and quantities.
Identify variations, delays and additional works and communicate these promptly.
Work closely with the Site Manager and Project Manager to achieve project milestones and targets.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
Previous experience as a Site Supervisor, Civil Supervisor or Leading Hand within civil construction.
Strong practical knowledge of civil construction methodologies and site operations.
Experience supervising civil crews, plant and subcontractors.
Experience across earthworks, roadworks, drainage, services and/or water infrastructure will be highly regarded.
Strong understanding of WHS, environmental and quality requirements.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to effectively coordinate multiple work fronts and priorities.
Confident leadership and communication skills.
A practical, hands-on approach to site supervision.
Strong focus on safety, productivity and quality.
Current Construction White Card.
Current Australian Driver Licence.
Relevant plant tickets, qualifications and supervisory training will be highly regarded.
