Job summary

Pearson Carter Limited is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer in Brisbane to drive design and analysis across industrial, mining and utility power networks. This permanent role blends office-based design with hands-on site activities, data collection, equipment configuration and commissioning support.

The successful candidate will lead small teams, mentor junior engineers and engage with clients from concept to commissioning, while ensuring compliance with Australian standards and safe

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified Electrical Engineer with extensive industrial power systems experience.
• Candidate with RPEQ or working towards it is preferred.
• 5+ years of proven experience in power system analysis and design is desirable.
• Permanent working rights in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Interpret client requirements and prepare design documents, drawings, scopes of work, risk assessments and equipment specs.
• Conduct investigations and detailed analyses of industrial, mining and utility power systems.
• Manage project schedules and budgets.
• Lead small project teams with minimal supervision.
• Assist in proposals and quotations preparation.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers.

About the Role

Due to growing demand across key sectors, we're expanding our Brisbane team and seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to join us. This permanent role offers the opportunity to work on both interesting and challenging projects. Your daily tasks will include design development, complex analysis, creating technical documentation, report writing and collaborating directly with clients from concept through to commissioning. Expect a balance of office-based design work and hands‑on site involvement including data collection, equipment configuration and testing, as well as troubleshooting and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpreting client project requirements and preparing design documents and drawings, scopes of work, risk assessments and equipment specifications, etc
• Carrying out investigations, studies and detailed analysis of industrial, mining and utility power systems
• Managing project schedules and budgets
• Working unsupervised and leading small
• Assisting in the preparation of proposals and quotations
• Providing coaching and mentoring for junior engineers

About You

We’re looking for a seasoned engineer with strong design skills, practical field experience, and a collaborative mindset. We are looking for a candidate who brings:

• Proven ability to communicate and interface with a variety of stakeholders such as clients, management, peers, other disciplines, suppliers and installation contractors
• Ability to manage small project teams
• Experience in the preparation of design documentation including drawings, specifications, reports, scopes of work etc
• You will be degree qualified in Electrical Engineering having extensive work experience in industrial power systems
• You will be or working towards an RPEQ
• Preference will be given to engineers with 5 years of proven experience in power system analysis and design
• Permanent working rights in Australia

Desirable Experience and Skills

• Strong working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards
• Significant PTW and/or ETAP experience
• Design of industrial HV networks and associated protection systems
• Design experience for earthing and lightning protection systems
• Client-focused with strong communication skills
