Job summary

Pearson Carter Limited in Brisbane, Queensland, is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to lead power system design and analysis across industrial and utility projects, from initial design through testing and commissioning.

You will manage small project teams, prepare drawings, specifications and reports, mentor junior engineers, and work directly with clients while staying hands-on with engineering delivery.

Qualifications

• Electrical Engineering degree required with extensive industrial power systems experience.
• Strong design capability with practical field experience.
• Experience producing drawings, specifications, reports and scopes of work.
• Ability to lead small teams and communicate confidently with clients, suppliers and contractors.

Senior Power Systems Engineer 130,000–150,000 Brisbane

Company

Take ownership of challenging power engineering projects with an established automation and engineering consultancy. You’ll join a growing Brisbane team, working across industrial and utility environments with involvement from initial design through to testing and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Develop power system designs, drawings, specifications and technical reports that meet client requirements.
• Conduct investigations, studies and detailed power system analysis across industrial, mining and utility projects.
• Support site activities, including data collection, equipment configuration, troubleshooting, testing and commissioning.
• Lead small project teams, manage schedules and budgets, and mentor junior engineers.
• Work directly with clients and contribute to proposals, quotations and scopes of work.

Experience

Essential:

• Electrical Engineering degree and extensive industrial power systems experience.
• Strong design capability combined with practical field experience.
• Experience producing engineering drawings, specifications, reports and scopes of work.
• Ability to lead small teams and communicate confidently with clients, suppliers and contractors.
• RPEQ registration, or working towards it.
• Permanent working rights in Australia.

Desirable:

• Five or more years of power system analysis and design experience.
• Significant experience with PTW and/or ETAP.
• Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards.
• Industrial HV network and protection system design experience.
• Earthing and lightning protection design experience.

Salary

140,000–160,000, depending on experience.
