Job summary

Downer is seeking a Site Engineer - Services Infrastructure to support Defence infrastructure works at Blamey Barracks Kapooka. You will assist the Project Engineer to deliver HV, water, fire and sewer packages, coordinating subcontractors and ensuring safety and quality on site.

Based at Wagga Wagga, relocation support is available for the right candidate. Prior Defence infrastructure exposure is advantageous but not essential, and Australian citizenship with security clearance eligibility is

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Services Engineering or Civil Engineering.
• Exposure to services infrastructure installations on site, or graduate engineering role.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary project team.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Engineer with delivery of HV electrical, potable water, fire water and sewer mains.
• Coordinate subcontractors to ensure safe, on-schedule, to-spec work.
• Assist with resolving design and constructability issues on site.
• Support quality control activities, inspections and documentation.

An opportunity for a Site Engineer - Services Infrastructure to build experience on a major Defence program at Blamey Barracks Kapooka, supporting the delivery of HV, water, fire and sewer infrastructure packages.

The Riverina Redevelopment Joint Venture (RRJV) is a 50/50 joint venture between CPB Contractors and Downer to undertake major upgrades and replacement of existing infrastructure and facilities to support Defence capability for the next 30 years. The proposed project consists of a program of works across three Department of Defence establishments including:

The proposed capital investment of $2 billion will incorporate a variety of elements including:

• Construction of new messing and living in accommodation
• Construction of new training facilities
• Refurbishment and upgrading of existing buildings
• Remedial works and upgrades to infrastructure services

The opportunity

We are seeking a Site Engineer - Services Infrastructure to support the delivery of critical Defence services works at Blamey Barracks Kapooka. Working closely with the Project Engineer, this role will assist in managing the installation of key services infrastructure packages, ensuring works are delivered safely, to quality standards and in line with RRJV systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a developing engineer to gain experience on a tier 1 Defence infrastructure program.

What you'll do

• Support the Project Engineer with the delivery of services infrastructure works including HV electrical, potable water, fire water and sewer mains
• Coordinate subcontractors to ensure works are delivered safely on program and to specification
• Assist with resolving design and constructability issues on site
• Support quality control activities, inspections and documentation
• Assist with commissioning and handover activities for completed services packages

What you'll bring

• Degree qualification in Services Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulic or Building Services) or Civil Engineering
• Exposure to services infrastructure installations in a site or graduate engineering role
• Understanding of subcontractor coordination and site-quality processes
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary project team
• Experience on construction or infrastructure projects (Defence experience advantageous but not essential)

This role is based at Wagga Wagga. Relocation assistance is available for the successful candidate if required. This is not a DIDO or FIFO role, applicants must be willing to relocate, be an Australian citizen and willing to obtain a security clearance.
