Job summary

5MI Australia Pty Ltd, a Canberra-based construction and project management company, is seeking a Building Associate in Fyshwick, ACT for a full-time role with a competitive salary. You will support planning, coordination and site supervision across residential and commercial fitouts.

The candidate should have at least 1 year of relevant experience, strong drawing interpretation skills, good organisational ability and effective communication to coordinate trades and materials on site.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience as a Building Associate.
• Strong ability to interpret construction drawings and codes of practice.
• Sound knowledge of site coordination and construction sequencing.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist Construction Managers and site supervisors with planning and organising residential and fitout works.
• Interpret plans, drawings, and building regs to coordinate carpentry, framing, fitout, drywall and facade works.
• Coordinate works programs, sequencing, and resources to support schedules.
• Inspect works to ensure compliance with plans and standards.
• Assist with calculating quantities, costs, and timeframes; monitor project budgets.
• Supervise day-to-day site activities and coordinate subcontractors and trades.
• Prepare progress updates and site records for Managers.
• Liaise with builders, suppliers, and site personnel to coordinate deliveries.
• Support health and safety practices and procedures on site.
• Maintain construction documentation and records for QA.
