Job summary

Indigenous Business Growth (IBG) is recruiting a Site Civil Supervisor for an urgent Battery Energy Storage System project in NSW Riverina. The role demands hands-on leadership, directing two leading hands and crews, with a strong emphasis on safety, productivity and program delivery.

You will oversee earthworks, roadworks and foundations, ensure alignment with IFC drawings and ITPs, and coordinate with the PM to maintain the project schedule on this major renewable energy package.

Qualifications

• Very strong, hands-on experience in bulk earthworks, pit and pipe, and footing construction.
• Proven site supervision of civil crews, plant operators and subcontractors.
• Experience managing heavy haulage and high-volume truck movements.
• Strong grasp of construction sequencing, drawings, specifications and ITPs.
• Confident using tablets and digital field reporting.
• Current driver's licence and White Card.
• Available to start on site immediately.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily pre-starts, allocate labour, plant and subcontractors, and keep crews productive and clear on what the day needs to deliver.
• Supervise bulk earthworks, access roads and hardstands, trenching, conduit, pit and pipe, drainage, and concrete footings and equipment foundations.
• Plan daily and weekly works with the PM, track progress, flag delays early, and keep accurate diaries, timesheets, plant hours and quantities in Assignar.
• Lead SWMS, permits and toolbox talks, manage the interface between plant and people, and stop unsafe work.

Our client is a specialist civil contractor delivering infrastructure across the power, utilities, transport, land development and renewable energy sectors. They have been awarded the civil package on a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in the NSW Riverina, and need an experienced Site Civil Supervisor on the ground immediately.

IBG is a majority Indigenous owned recruitment business registered with Supply Nation, specialising in civil engineering, infrastructure, construction and major project recruitment. We partner closely with contractors, engineering consultancies and delivery organisations to place high quality technical professionals. The Role

You will lead 2 leading hands with crews of 4 under each, plus subcontractor wet hire crews. The fleet includes dozers, grader, compactor, rollers, water cart, 5t and 26t excavators and large bogie tippers, with a very high volume of truck movements every day.

Key Responsibilities

Site leadership - Run daily pre-starts, allocate labour, plant and subcontractors, and keep crews productive and clear on what the day needs to deliver. Manage performance, fatigue and welfare, and resolve issues before they hit the program.

Civil delivery - Supervise bulk earthworks, access roads and hardstands, trenching, conduit, pit and pipe, drainage, and concrete footings and equipment foundations. Build to IFC drawings, ITPs and hold points.

Program and records - Plan daily and weekly works with the PM, track progress, flag delays early, and keep accurate diaries, timesheets, plant hours and quantities in Assignar. Record client directions and out-of-scope work.

Safety - Lead SWMS, permits and toolbox talks, manage the interface between plant and people, and stop unsafe work.

About You

Essential

• Very strong, hands‑on experience in all three of bulk earthworks, pit and pipe, and footing construction
• Proven site supervision of civil crews, plant operators and subcontractors
• Experience managing heavy haulage and high-volume truck movements
• Strong grasp of construction sequencing, drawings, specifications and ITPs
• Confident using tablets and digital field reporting
• Current driver's licence and White Card
• Available to start on site immediately

Highly Regarded

• BESS, substation or switchyard construction experience
• Utilities, renewables or transmission and distribution projects
• Assignar or a similar field system
• First Aid, plant tickets, Working Around Mobile Plant and traffic management
