Job summary

Griffith University in Logan, Queensland, seeks a Technical Officer - Simulation (Nursing and Midwifery) to support realistic learning experiences for students. This hands-on role prepares, maintains and supports clinical teaching spaces and simulation labs.

No night shifts or weekends; weekday hours between 7am and 6pm. The role is full-time, based at Griffith University Logan, with opportunities to work across campuses and a strong focus on safety and effective student learning.

Qualifications

• Relevant health qualification or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Experience providing clinical, laboratory, simulation or technical support.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain safe, compliant learning environments, with strong knowledge of Work Health and Safety practices.
• Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
• Practical experience supporting clinical learning spaces, simulation environments, equipment and resources, with proficiency in Microsoft 365 and a willingness to learn new technologies.
• Experience supporting Nursing, Midwifery or other Health discipline simulation activities is highly regarded.
• A current driver’s licence is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain clinical teaching laboratories and simulation environments for Nursing and Midwifery students.
• Assist with preparation and support of practical classes involving laboratory equipment, chemicals, biological materials and anatomical specimens, including preserved animal tissues such as lamb brains and pig hearts.
• Provide technical support for practical classes and simulation-based learning activities.
• Manage equipment, consumables, stock control and procurement to ensure resources are safe, available and fit for purpose.
• Promote safe and compliant work practices, supporting Work Health and Safety requirements across learning spaces.
• Work collaboratively with academic and professional staff to deliver high-quality student learning experiences and continuous improvement initiatives.
