Job summary

Ample Life Care is seeking a casual Disability Support Worker for the Sydney Eastern Suburbs, including Kingsford and surrounding areas. You will support participants with mental health and psychosocial needs, assisting with daily activities, independence and community participation.

You will work under the SIL Care Team, following participant plans, BSPs where applicable, and maintaining accurate records while collaborating with families and health professionals.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions and disabilities.
• Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009).
• NDIS Worker Screening Check.
• National Police Check including clearance to work with vulnerable persons/people with disability.
• NDIS Worker Orientation Module ("Quality, Safety and You") or willingness to complete prior to commencement.

Responsibilities

• Support participants with mental health and psychosocial disabilities in daily routines, personal care and social engagement.
• Promote independence, wellbeing and community participation through person-centred support.
• Support participants who may experience behaviours of concern or emotional distress, using calm and appropriate support strategies.
• Follow Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) and authorised Restrictive Practices (RPs) where relevant.
• Administer medications safely in accordance with individual support plans and procedures.
• Provide manual handling support, including hoists and slide sheets, where required.
• Monitor and report changes in participants’ mental health, wellbeing or behaviour.
• Maintain accurate shift notes, progress notes and incident reports.
• Communicate and collaborate with the team, families and allied health professionals.
• Maintain confidentiality and respect participants’ privacy, dignity, choice and rights.
